Duo rotation times

Interested to know what duo cycle times people have used previously for the RCS? eg. How long each swimmer is in the water before change etc. What has worked? What does not work?

Duo

Hi Summer?? or is it Dalila??

Sounds like you have a similar interest/concern. Have you done a team Rotto swim before or jumping straight in at the deep end? I come from a competitive swimming background but only did my first team in 2006 and we did not get in this year....luckily. Held no hope of getting into 2008 but we did as a duo.

How many k's are you doing at the moment? Currently I am doing about 12-15km depending on commitments. Holidays coming up so will increase to??. Booking in for most of the open water swims...one last weekend at Sorrento was great. Only did the 2.5 km though, plenty did the 5 km or 10 km. Maybe later in the season.

Rotation times

Hi Summer

Keep an eye on this blog. As soon as I know anything I will advise.

Duo rotation times

I've been advised that short rotation times (i.e. 10-15mins) are preferred, so the resting swimmer doesn't cool down too much. This isn't from experience however (I'm a first timer in 2008).

happy training!

Duo rotation times

Hi
my sister and I were part of the swim this year, we have put in again for 2008. I have a good friend that has done the swim a few times now twice as a solo and twice as a duo once in a team. I have been picking her brain about it all. She has recommended doing as much training in the ocean as possible. Pools are nice and warm, but its a whole different ball game out there in the yoggen! Her teams started off with 30 minute turn arounds, for the first couple of rotations, then dropped to 20 mins for the next few and then they tried 10 minutes, but found no sooner had they gotten out of the water, they were back in again, so they settled into a 15 minute turn around routine, which worked for them. Slow and steady was her motto. I guess its really up to youself and your partner to work these things out before you get out there. My sister and I are planning the same course of action as my friend and her duos. I am thouroughly looking forward to being out there amongst it all, and wish you and your partner the best of luck, and hope to see you on the shores of Thompsons bay Rottnest.
regards Sharon

Duo rotation times

I have done the swim now on 5 occasions and once as a DUO. We found starting off with 15 minute rotaions and then working down to rotations of about 10 minutes worked well for us as we had a quick rest but not too long to cool down and cramp. Good Luck!!
