3 Weeks to go
My double crossing hasn't happened..not just yet. It was a hard choice but I made the right decision for me to call if off and am looking forward to my third solo... once I make a few calls this weekend and sort out my boat, skipper and paddler, just a few important deets! I am also thinking the 10k at Champion Lakes might be a real annual goer for me just about now!!! Bring on the green sludge !
Yer, as they say, the fitter u are, the faster u fall, and I fell down like a fly, just as I called the swim off. Have swum like the proverbial slug at training since. And slow and steady will NOT WIN THIS RACE (this I will leave to Jaime or Tim, but I would still like a good time, tvm!)
My 10k on Sunday was like a mental Jeckal & Hyde show the whole way (albeit about 10mins too slow), (it was 4 laps of a 2.5k course) & I was thinking, I only wanna do 1 lap.... ahh shut up... ur hubby is on his way back from London... would u rather be sitting on a plane for 20 hours or swimmin 10k.... so swim an' shut up an' get on with it....an' so I sat on Wazzas toes for 3 laps an thought I'm feelin ok and picked it up a bit in the last lap...I swam it straight without stopping and without a paddler, so the swim itself was ok, took a good course and was comfy, just a tad slow (yeh, right, honestly it was u no, f'd). There is also a very good stinger specimen on my tummy that caused much yelling and what not. in the 2nd lap of the swim (ahhhh... youch)....but that is no excuse..My energy levels are starting to return now, so I have 3 weeks of solid training and good eating to build my reserves upon. It will make a huge difference, off the piss and eating heaps of fruit and veggies and getting proper rest.
I am also going to have a groan about the young chick in the full bright blue suit from Vic Park club who literally swamped me and Waz for 2 laps, if u read this, learn to give people some space, we are here not to race u young things, but because we enjoy it, the fact I pulled away from you in the last lap finally gave me some peace. Don't swim on top of people for lap after lap, me and Waz train together and your fist in my face every stroke wasn't helping anyone!
Now Jaime & Anna have some crazy plan (and I mean certifiably NUTS) hatched to do 400's on 5:30 repeats 2 moro.... not breathing is not gonna help me, that I am sure off, an I can't swim any faster, an I don't have a fastskin suit... so this is just gonna be pure hard work... enjoy washing ur hair about 8am 2moro, I will be falling thru the slats in the wood on the benches at Challenge!
